Enemy font book & poster

For this project, the goal was to create an 8-page typographic book and poster based on a single typeface. The typeface chosen was ‘Enemy’. The design was built around the typeface because I had never used a stencil typeface before and wanted to challenge myself creatively. The project started by researching and sketching different ideas to solve this challenge.

I developed my concept inspired by Saul Bass and themes of nuclear war during the Cold War. Using a limited palette of black, white, and red made the book feel reminiscent of classic films such as Dr. Strangelove.

The poster presented itself as a whole new challenge- It was required to incorporate a randomly assigned quote. To push myself further, I experimented with M.C. Escher’s art style.  Mixing the complex geometric illusions and the bold, minimalistic blocky style required careful balance. Using a strong structure and geometry, I was able to blend both influences to create a poster that can stand on its own and connect back to the typographic book.
